I'm growing red wigglers, european nightcrawlers, and African nightcrawlers in my Gusanito 5 tray.
There's no issue with heat build up, or too much food. There was an issue with a few escaping each night before the Africans arrived. I put down a tray larger than the base and placed bedding material in it to save the lives of the stragglers...it worked. After the Africans arrived it seems like they were gung ho to escape. I Figured a way to keep them in, and it has worked so far. I used roughly 4' of twine with a dowel attached as a handle, I used a putty knife to sandwich the twine between the trays; it provides a gauntlet for the worms not to escape....as well as letting air to circulate because of the porous twine. It seems like more work, but it's faster than picking up all the escaped worms on a nightly basis. MJ
